Midlands ‘Best Business Pitch’ competition offers expert webinars for business leaders and investors
Start-up and scale-up businesses seeking investment, as well as successful entrepreneurs keen to invest can receive free professional support via webinars hosted by Minerva Birmingham Pitch Up (formally Pitchfest).
As part of the series, business leaders learn the art of producing a successful business pitch, while investors are presented with guidance on making wise investment decisions.
Pitch Up is delivered by the Centre for Growth at Aston University, Bizzlnn at the University of Birmingham and Minerva part of the University of Warwick Science Park Ltd.
The event has put more than 125 entrepreneurs directly in front of investors and helped bring in excess of £3,000,000 of investments to the region’s small businesses to date.
Former competition participant Steve Barbour, director of Composite Braiding, said:
“Since Pitch Up, we have secured over £1m of funding to power our business forward.”
He added: “As part of one of our technology collaborations, we have also won the ‘Global Light Rail Technical Innovation of the Year’ and have been nominated for a JEC World Innovation award (think of it as the Oscars of the composite industry).”
For business leaders, Pitch Up – VC vs Angel Investor webinar takes place on June 16 and will explore the differences between raising money from Venture Capitalists and Business Angels, followed by a special webinar on investment schemes such as SEIS and EIS on June 23.
The Angel Investing series also continues with Term sheet & Shareholder Agreement by Legal Clarity on June 18 and several other webinars up until October.
